At about 6pm on a Sunday afternoon, Richard walked his friend to the bus stop on O’Connell St, North Adelaide. He had school the next day, dinner was waiting, and he wanted to call his girlfriend. He never made it home. An ear witness said they heard some shouting, various voices, some female, then a car with a loud muffler speed off. Von Einem often undid his muffler as a ruse to get youths to help him with his car.
