Также пилот радует динамичным темпом повествования. Всего за час сценаристы успевают представить ключевых персонажей и довести до конца одну сюжетную линию. Уже в первой серии начинается и заканчивается история Эйммы — жены Визериса и матери Рейниры. Такой скорости от сериала не ждешь: кажется, эта сюжетная арка могла бы продлиться как минимум три серии.

Первые отзывы критиков были противоречивыми. Рецензенты отмечают, с одной стороны, достаточно высокое качество сериала, а с другой — некоторое однообразие сюжета и отсутствие ярких, запоминающихся персонажей, которое бросается в глаза при сравнении «Дома Дракона» с «Игрой престолов»

Но вот на HBO выходит первая серия 'Дома драконов', приквел той самой 'Игры престолов' которую 'Ведьмак' и иже с ним намеревались убивать и уверенно стирает все эти аргументы про непреложную смехотворность сериального фэнтези.

Каждому исполнителю главных ролей писатель подарил экземпляр «Пламени и крови» с личной подписью, но никто так и не прочел книгу до конца за время съемок. Исполнитель роли Визериса вообще никогда не жаловал жанр фэнтези и в свое время отказался от роли в «Игре престолов», потому что не хотел участвовать в проекте о драконах. Но не упустил второй шанс присоединиться к ставшей знаменитой франшизе.

В «Игре престолов» зритель мог выбирать себе любимчиков из большого количества персонажей. Кому-то интереснее было следить за Джоном Сноу, другим, скажем, за Станнисом Баратеоном. На другие сюжетные линии зритель мог обращать не так много внимания.

В «Доме Дракона» такой возможности не будет. Героев не очень много, и все они взаимодействуют друг с другом в одной локации — Королевской гавани. Городские виды иногда сменяются подземельями и помещениями фамильного замка. Но на этом разнообразие заканчивается.

Сразу хочу сказать, что я не являюсь поклонником творчества Мартина, однако немного соскучился по добротным масштабным шоу, тем более в псевдоисторическом сеттинге. Более того, я не являюсь поклонником Мартина настолько, что и в оригинальной «Игре» запомнил только основных персонажей, да и то к четвертому сезону… тех из них, кто еще остался в живых, конечно. Поэтому заранее прошу прощения, что в этой рецензии имен не будет, но обещаю, что вы поймете, о ком речь.

Сравнения можно продолжать (благо первые две серии дают достаточно фактуры), и все они будут не в пользу приквела. При этом фанаты «Игры престолов», скорее всего, досмотрят первый сезон до конца — их не особенно волнуют оценки критиков. А вот удастся ли НВО заполучить благодаря «Дому Дракона» новую аудиторию (именно на это создатели, судя по всему, делают ставку) — большой вопрос.
